Baltimore Drag Awards is a time for the drag community to recognize its own. Whether that be from on stage performers to the actual venue itself. The Baltimore Banner recently attended at drag brunch at PowerPlant Live!, which will be the setting for this year’s drag awards on August 27. Door open at 7 pm.

The spotted lanternfly was first detected in the United States in Pennsylvania in September 2014. Since then the insects are appearing all over Maryland and pose a particular threat to grape vines. State officials have been warning of their presence for the past few years, but this year they are much more prevalent then in the past. In Palmer State Park, Kenton Sumpter, Maryland Department of Agriculture's entomologist in charge, talks about coexisting with spotted lanternflies and limiting their spread.
Baltimore County will be building its first cricket pitch, to be the home field of the Saathi Baltimore Cricket Club, which was established in 2021. The County is working to become more responsive to the needs of immigrant residents, which make up 13% of the county's population, by helping to meet the growing demand for fields and facilities to accommodate cricket in the County.
