It’s going to be a busy weekend in Baltimore, with parades, festivals and homecoming events. Along with all the fun comes the potential for increased traffic.

The city’s Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to several road closures and traffic changes. Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning on driving.

It’s homecoming at Morgan State University. Festivities begin on Saturday morning with a parade from 9-11 a.m. and continue through the afternoon as the Bears football team hosts Robert Morris at noon.

Several roads around campus will be closed from 5 a.m.-4 p.m., including

  • The Alameda between East Cold Spring Lane and East Belvedere Avenue
  • East Cold Spring Lane between The Alameda and Hillen Road
  • Hillen Road from East Cold Spring Lane to Argonne Drive

All of Hillen Road will close from the third quarter of the football game, likely around 2:30 p.m., until the area is clear around 8 p.m.

Near downtown, streets around Power Plant Live! will be closed for the Baltimore Taco Festival. Starting at noon Friday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Market Place and Water Street will be closed between Lombard and Frederick streets.

Patterson Park is hosting the Fiesta Baltimore Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Linwood Avenue will be closed from Eastern Avenue to East Pratt Street on both days from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. For the event’s parade on Sunday, the following streets will be closed from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.:

  • Grundy Street between Gough and Fleet streets
  • Eastern Avenue between Haven Street and South Linwood Avenue

On Sunday, the Race for Our Kids 10K at the Maryland Zoo starts at 8 a.m. and will close Beechwood Drive between Safari Place and Swann Drive from 5 a.m.- 12 p.m.

The Baltimore Farmer’s Market on Sunday will come with its usual road closures to parts of Holliday, Pleasant and Hillen streets under the Jones Falls Expressway from around 6 a.m.-2 p.m.
