Baltimore County and state officials halted a 500-gallon propane tank from leaking and causing further damage after a car struck it Thursday evening.

Baltimore County officials responded to the propane tank leak in White Hall around 5:30 p.m., fire officials said. A small sedan struck the top of an underground tank in the 1300 block of Bernoudy Road, according to a post from the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Baltimore County Fire’s hazmat team and the Maryland Department of the Environment responded, replaced the damaged valve and stopped the leak, fire department spokesperson Andrew Laird said in a statement.

Laird said no one was injured and there was no threat to the public, though residents of the property were evacuated.
