Four Tesla vehicles caught fire at the dealership in Owings Mills on Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.

A vehicle that was brought in for service went up in flames just before 5 p.m., said Fire Captain Cynthia Gee Scott, a spokesperson for the Baltimore County Fire Department. The fire spread to three other vehicles, she said.

The fire was extinguished shortly after, but firefighters remained on scene to ensure the smoldering electric vehicles would not reignite, Scott said. The county’s hazmat team was monitoring for air quality issues.

In March 2025, people across the country set fire to Tesla vehicles in protest of Elon Musk and his partnership with President Donald Trump early in his presidency. Hundreds protested outside the dealership in Owings Mills, though there have been fewer attacks on the electric vehicle company since Musk’s departure from the federal government.
