Montgomery County Fire and Rescue is searching for a 16-year-old male who went missing in the Potomac River in Great Falls Park.

The department’s Swift Water Team responded to a call at about 6:15 a.m. Thursday to search for the teen, who reportedly was with a group when he entered the water and failed to resurface, Assistant Chief Davis Pazos posted on X.

The search follows the drowning death less than three weeks ago of Towson University student Nazir Bell, 20, who had also been swimming with a group in the Potomac at Great Falls. His body was recovered three days after he was reported missing.
