A man was fatally shot by a Prince George’s County Police officer Friday night in a Suitland neighborhood, state investigators said.
The shooting unfolded on the 4500 block of Reamy Drive shortly after 11:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Maryland Office of the Attorney General.
The Prince George’s Police Department said in a post that its officers observed two vehicles in the area and followed them in a marked police cruiser down Reamy Drive, which is a dead-end road. One of the vehicles drove off the road and through a yard toward the officers, according to police.
An officer fired their weapon and struck the driver, an adult male, police said. Officers rendered medical aid to the driver, who later died at a hospital, according to police.
The shooting took place in a suburban neighborhood off Suitland Road. The area is mostly lined with homes, with few businesses.
