Montgomery County Police said a nonverbal child found in Takoma Park early Monday morning was later identified and returned to his parents.

The child, believed to be between 6 and 9 years old, was found alone at about 3:24 a.m. on Monday in the 7700 block of Blair Road in Takoma Park, police said.

Police said later on Monday in a social media post the child had been returned to his parents’ custody. The post did not provide further details.
