A Pasadena man died after the motor scooter he was operating collided with a sport utility vehicle near Riviera Beach on Monday morning, Anne Arundel County Police said Wednesday.
The man, 39-year-old Robert Louis Tuite of Pasadena, was traveling north on Fort Smallwood Road on a Zhejiang motor scooter shortly before 9:40 a.m. when it collided with a Mazda 6 turning left from southbound Fort Smallwood Road onto Hilltop Road.
The scooter struck the passenger side of the Mazda, which was being driven by a 17-year-old.
The scooter operator was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
Zhejiang motor scooters can be gas- or electric-powered.
The Anne Arundel County Police Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision.
The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration reported Monday that 262 people had died on Maryland roadways this year, down from 307 at the same time in 2025. The total for 2026 includes 53 motorcyclists and six bicyclists.
