After searching for about 20 hours, the U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search Friday for a boater who went missing off the coast of Ocean City.
The boater, who was not identified, is believed to have gone overboard from his vessel, the Coast Guard said in a news release on Saturday.
The search for the mariner covered over 2,500 square nautical miles, which is roughly the size of neighboring Delaware River.
The mariner’s vessel was towed to shore Friday night. Friends and family of the mariner picked up the boat Saturday afternoon, officials said.
An official with the U.S. Coast Guard said he did not have additional information to share.
Ocean City Police Department did not immediately return a request for comment.
