A 7-year-old girl died after what police described as an “accidental shooting” on Tuesday inside a Milford Mill home.
Officers responded around 3:15 p.m. to the 7800 block of Selgrave Road and found the girl suffering from gunshot wounds, said Trae Corbin, a spokesperson with the Baltimore County Police Department. The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police said that adults were in the home at the time of the shooting. Investigators are still looking into how the shooting occurred, and if the girl was able to get ahold of the gun.
“We don’t know how the shooting took place, but we do believe it was accidental in nature,” Corbin said. “Anytime a child’s life is lost, it’s absolutely tragic.”
This latest Baltimore County shooting comes just a week after two siblings — 9-year-old Steve Allen and 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie— were fatally shot at a home in Gwynn Oaks. Police described that shooting as an isolated incident but said they’re searching for a suspect.
