A possible mercury spill in Baltimore County sent six people to the hospital Friday.
Maryland Department of the Environment officials say a contractor was working on a home in Lutherville when the spill was discovered.
Officials say nobody was injured; however, six people were transported to a hospital for evaluation and decontamination.
The spill occurred around 4 p.m. on the 8600 block of Tower Bridge Way, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.
The contractor drove to a hotel in Edgewood, Harford County.
The MDE and the Baltimore County Department of Health responded to the scene in Lutherville.
The Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Co. and Harford County Department of Emergency Services hazardous materials team were dispatched to the Quality Inn in Edgewood, where the contractor had gone.
The cause of the spill is under investigation.
