An SUV with a Maryland license plate crashed into a D.C. Metro bus on Saturday morning, causing the bus to drive into a restaurant, officials said.

The Metro Transit Police said in a post that three women, including the bus driver, sustained minor injuries. The bus went through a Balkan restaurant called Ambar on Seventh Street in Northwest Washington.

It’s not clear what time the crash happened, but the restaurant was not yet open, according to its website.

Photos showed the Chevy SUV with damage to its trunk. The front half of the bus shattered the windows and was inside the restaurant.

The Maryland license plate of the SUV on the scene had three outstanding traffic tickets issued in 2025, according to the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles.

The D.C. Fire and EMS Department said there were no structural damages to the building. The bus was removed from the building around noon, officials said.

The fire department and the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department are investigating.
