A 2-year-old drowned Saturday afternoon in the Brooklyn Park neighborhood of Anne Arundel County, police said.

Officers responded to reports of the drowning around 12:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Townsend Avenue, said Sgt. Chris Anderson, a spokesperson for the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

The child later died at a hospital, he said. The drowning took place at a private residence.

On Sunday, first responders were called to a residential pool in the Pasadena area for a possible drowning, WJZ reported. The young boy was taken to a hospital and died.

This is one of the state’s first drownings this summer. Earlier in June, a 20-year-old Towson University student was found dead after he went swimming in the Potomac River.
