An Ellicott City girl was struck and killed Tuesday after falling off of her bicycle into the path of a dump truck near Patapsco Valley State Park.

Howard County Police said the incident took place just before 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Daniels Road, which borders the Patapsco River and park and is a popular parking area to access Daniels Dam.

Sanvika Selluka, 12, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said Wednesday. The driver of the 2004 Sterling LT9500 dump truck was uninjured and remained at the scene, according to police.

A preliminary investigation suggested the crash was an accident, said Seth Hoffman, a spokesperson for Howard County Police. No charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing
