A girl was struck and killed Tuesday in Ellicott City after falling off of her bicycle into the path of a dump truck.

Howard County police say the incident took place just before 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Daniels Road, which borders the Patapsco River and Patapsco Valley State Park, and is a popular parking area to access Daniels Dam.

The unnamed girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 2004 Sterling LT9500 dump truck was uninjured and remained at the scene, according to police.

Daniels Road remained closed around 5 p.m. Police said their investigation was ongoing and that more information would be released as available.
