An 83-year-old Silver Spring man died this weekend after he was hit by a pick-up truck at a gas station Friday in Rockville.
The man, Charles S. Lazar, was walking north through the FreeState gas station parking lot on Hungerford Road when a person driving a white Chevrolet Silverado pulled away from a pump and hit him, authorities said.
Montgomery County Police said officers responded to the gas station around 8:36 a.m. Friday, found Lazar “suffering from serious injuries” and transported him to a nearby hospital. Lazar’s condition worsened overnight and he died Saturday.
Police said the driver of the Chevrolet stayed at the scene after the collision and showed no signs of impairment.
The incident continues to be investigated by the police’s collision reconstruction unit.
