An 8-year-old girl remained hospitalized Sunday after falling 10 to 15 feet from a zipline at Camp Letts, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Emergency personnel were called to the camp in the Edgewater area south of Annapolis around 2:39 p.m.

The child was airlifted to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, where she was listed in serious condition.

A fire department spokesperson said the child remained hospitalized Sunday but did not know the child’s condition. A hospital spokesperson said they were unable to provide an update without the patient’s name.

Camp Letts, founded in 1906, is run by the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington. A spokesperson said a private event was held by an outside organization that had been using the camp, and an outside vendor set up the zipline.

β€œThe YMCA of Metropolitan Washington has been informed that an attendee of a private event held by an outside organization was injured while on the YMCA Camp Letts Retreat Center property,” a spokesperson said in a statement. β€œIt was reported to the YMCA that a juvenile guest fell while using an outside vendor’s zipline set up specifically for the event. The Y sends prayers for the individual’s full recovery.”
