The Bryn Mawr School had its second lockdown in a week after unfounded threats were called into the all-girls school in Roland Park.
The school delayed dismissal Thursday afternoon after a “threat and a bomb scare” were made to the campus at 109 W. Melrose Avenue around 2:49 p.m., according to the Baltimore Police Department.
Officers and school staff did a sweep of the building before lifting the lockdown about an hour later, police said.
On Monday, Sue Sadler, the Head of School, said in a letter to the school community that “an anonymous threatening phone call” came into the receptionist around 2:30 p.m. The campus locked down as officers searched the campus before re-opening around 4:15 p.m.
The nearby Gilman School also issued a shelter-in-place on Monday because of its proximity to Bryn Mawr.
“While moments like these are understandably upsetting, I am incredibly proud of the way our community responded,” Sadler wrote in a letter to the Bryn Mawr community. “Our faculty and staff followed established safety protocols with care and composure, keeping our students calm, reassured and safe throughout the lockdown.”
She said counselors would be available to assist students and parents.
“Above all, I am thankful that everyone is safe,” she wrote Monday.
Baltimore Police spokesperson Lindsey Eldridge said investigators were looking into whether the threats were connected.
