Anne Arundel County Police said officers responded to a shooting that took place inside Arundel Mills Mall on Saturday evening.

The incident began with an altercation “in the vestibule area near Burlington Coat Factory,” according to a post from Anne Arundel County Police.

During the fight, a shot was fired. There is no current safety threat inside the mall, the post said.

Several people of interest have been arrested, but the investigation is ongoing. It was not immediately clear how many people were involved or if anyone was injured.

Multiple police cars were still at the scene just before 7 p.m. as tape blocked off the area near Burlington Coat Factory.

Shoppers and diners at Arundel Mills Mall posted online that many had to quickly evacuate.

Arundel Mills Mall, which is a large shopping center in Hanover with hundreds of stores and restaurants, remains opened.
