A 37-year-old Annapolis man arrested earlier this week had 32 homemade explosives in his home, according to court records.
Lee Scott Wygal Ralston was arrested Tuesday after a monthslong investigation into illegal nighttime hunting, Maryland Natural Resources Police said in a statement.
While searching Ralston’s home in the 1200 block of Blackwalnut Lane, police found “suspected explosive devices,” said the police agency charged with protecting fish and wildlife and enforcing laws on public lands and waterways.
Investigators found 32 homemade devices, some designed to be detonated remotely and some containing BBs or flash powder, according to charging documents.
He faces 32 charges of possessing a destructive device and 32 charges of manufacturing a destructive device, according to court records.
Ralston “was interviewed and confirmed he created the devices,” Craig Tewell of the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal Division wrote in charging documents.

In addition, Natural Resources Police seized “numerous weapons, optics, suppressors, and ammunition” that they suspect were used in illegal nighttime hunting of deer in the area. Additional charges related to the illegal hunting are pending, police officials said.
Ralston was ordered held without bond, and does not have an attorney listed in online court records.
He has a court hearing scheduled for Thursday, April 23.
