Baltimore Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two people who shot an 11-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man, the suspected target, on Wednesday in Upton.
Police on Friday released surveillance footage showing two individuals in all black clothing jump from a white four-door sedan and open fire in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Police officials said Friday that the boy and man were in serious but stable condition.
Officials would not say how many times they were shot “to preserve the integrity of the investigation,” but denied reports that the child was struck seven times.
The boy was playing on the playground at Furman L. Templeton Elementary School, where he’s a student, when he was wounded. The Banner has reached out to family members for comment.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley said officers were called to the scene around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday and found the boy and man with gunshot wounds. Worley and Mayor Brandon Scott condemned the actions of the two individuals at a news conference on Wednesday, calling the shooters cowards.
“You got an 11-year-old boy who was shot in the abdomen, probably having to go through a bunch of surgeries to get himself fixed and hopefully have a good life for the rest of his life because some idiot just decided to fire a gun at somebody,” Worley said Wednesday.
