A man who fatally shot his 4-year-old son and wounded his 1-year-old daughter and the children’s mother in Baltimore County on Christmas Eve in 2024 was sentenced Friday to serve life in prison plus 185 years.
Baltimore County Circuit Judge Dennis Robinson Jr. handed down that punishment for Mark Jones Jr., 31, of Rosedale, who had been found guilty by a jury of second-degree murder and related crimes.
“There’s no excuse or justification for these crimes,” Robinson said. “This was violent. It was senseless.”
Jones shot and killed his son, Jacobi, and wounded his daughter, Peyton, and the children’s mother, Promyss Marcelle, inside the Ross Ridge Apartment Homes. He then wounded himself.
Prosecutors sought a sentence of life plus 80 years. Defense attorneys requested a sentence of 30 years in prison.
