Baltimore Police arrested a man in connection with the weekend shooting of a 55-year-old man on Bateman Avenue.

The man, 62-year-old Melvin Talbot, was charged Monday with attempted second-degree murder, according to law enforcement officials. It is unclear whether Talbot has an attorney.

Police said officers responded Saturday evening to a reported shooting at a home on the 3900 block of Bateman Avenue, where they found the victim.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound and was expected to survive.

The shooting was one of several incidents in a violent 24-hour stretch that left two people dead and three others hurt in Baltimore.
