Howard County Police arrested a 26-year-old man in the fatal stabbing of his roommate in Columbia early Sunday.

Authorities said in a news release that Donavan Townsend was being booked in the stabbing death of Jaelon Minor, 25.

Officers responded at around 1:40 a.m. to a reported stabbing in an apartment in the 7600 block of Woodpark Lane and found Minor, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a preliminary investigation determined the men had been in an altercation and that Townsend stabbed Minor and fled. Police located him shortly afterward.
