Montgomery County Police are asking the public to share video of the Gaithersburg neighborhood where a man was found with fatal gunshot wounds on Thursday.
Police on Friday identified the man as 32-year-old Christopher Gove. The department’s homicide unit is investigating the case.
“Detectives are asking anyone in the Willow Ridge neighborhood ... to check their surveillance or Ring camera footage from the early morning hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, for any suspicious activity,” police said.
Investigators are also looking for video of Gove’s Toyota Highlander, which was found about five miles from his home. The SUV had been involved in a single-vehicle crash and was found unoccupied.
About 6 a.m. on Thursday, officers were called to a home in the 12500 block of Carrington Hill Drive and found Gove. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.
Shortly after finding Gove, officers were dispatched to West Montgomery Avenue and Darnestown Road for a single-vehicle crash and found Gove’s black SUV at the scene.
Investigators seek video that may show someone entering or exiting the Highlander, police said.
Police urge anyone with information to visit the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website at www.crimesolversmcmd.org and click on the “P3 Tips” link or call 1-866-411-8477. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
A previous version of this story indicated that the victim's home is in Darnestown. After publication, police provided a more exact address for the home, which indicates that it is in Gaithersburg.
