A Baltimore man has been charged with fatally shooting another man following a fight in Glen Burnie parking lot Saturday night, Anne Arundel County Police announced.
Michael Joseph Hayes, 27, of Glen Burnie, was found shot in the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard at about 9:15 p.m., police said. He was taken to a hospital trauma center where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested Iaonnis Georgios Giorgakis, 32. He was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and use of a firearm during a felony, according to online court records. He was held without bond and is scheduled for a bail review hearing on Monday.
Though police said Giorgakis is from Baltimore, court records listed an address for him that’s the same as a carry-out restaurant in the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.
Hayes had been at the address earlier in the evening, according to police. On his last visit, the two men were involved in “a physical altercation” in the parking lot that ended with the shooting, police said.
The restaurant, Hilltop Pizza & Subs, posted on social media on Sunday that they were cooperating with police and would be closed for a few days.
Police offered no further details of the incident, but said they’re still investigating. They’re asking anyone with information to call 410-222-4731 or an anonymous tipline at 410-222-4700.
