A man and a teenager are charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting inside a Germantown grocery store last month, Montgomery County Police said on Wednesday.

Marcus Isaiah Jovon Braithwaite, 19, of Germantown, and a 16-year-old from Montgomery Village, are facing multiple charges related to a March 20 shooting inside the Giant Food store on Leaman Farm Road, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 8:40 p.m. when both suspects were inside the grocery store and chased a victim through the store to the front, where there were shoppers and employees. That’s when one of the suspects fired several shots at the victim, police said.

Braithwaite and the other defendant left the store after the victim was shot. Police did not specify which suspect fired the weapon.

Braithwaite was arrested on Tuesday and is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit while he awaits a bond hearing.

It was unclear on Wednesday afternoon if he had secured an attorney.

The younger suspect was arrested on March 25 in Sterling, Virginia. He is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, police said.

The suspects are also charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.
