A 61-year-old man was killed crossing a street Friday night when he was struck by a car in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County Police said on Monday.

Craig Anthony Budd, of Gaithersburg, was crossing the street around 8:10 p.m. near North Frederick Avenue and Professional Drive when he was struck by a driver in a BMW 325i that was headed north on North Frederick Avenue, police said.

Budd was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the BMW remained on the scene and is cooperating with detectives.
