Montgomery County Police released body-camera footage showing an officer returning fire and wounding a fleeing suspect in Montgomery Village last week.
The video captures the officer, whose name has not been released and who has been placed on routine administrative leave, taking cover behind a tree before he shoots at the suspect.
The gunfire injured 27-year-old Andre Duvall, of Germantown, who was later charged with multiple offenses related to the March 24 incident, including attempted first-degree murder.
He is being held without bond.
The video, released on Tuesday, shows more than 10 rounds fired between Duvall and the officer and a chase that lasts less than two minutes before Duvall is struck by gunfire.
The incident began around 5 p.m. as officers patrolled Contour Road in Montgomery Village Plaza and saw Duvall interacting with a person they identified as a drug dealer. They tried to stop Duvall as he walked toward an apartment complex.

What the bodycam shows
The body camera footage begins with the officer inside a patrol vehicle.
While chasing Duvall, he yells for him to stop and then chases him for about 50 seconds through the complex. After the sound of gunfire, the officer yells, “Shots fired!” and takes cover behind a tree.
He continues to move toward Duvall and hides behind a second tree when another shot is fired. As the suspect turns a corner, a volley of gunfire is heard as the officer takes cover behind a third tree. The officer then returns fire, wounding Duvall.
A second officer then appears in the video with his gun drawn.
Duvall, who is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions, is being held at the county’s Central Processing Unit. It was unclear on Tuesday afternoon if he had retained an attorney.
