Editor-in-Chief Audrey Cooper sent the following announcement to The Banner’s staff:

We are thrilled to welcome Lisa Lednicer to the newsroom as our new Baltimore County editor.

Lisa is an award-winning journalist, author and former teacher. She joins us from The Washington Post, where she most recently oversaw metro coverage through the afternoon and evening hours. She was one of the lead editors on last year’s coverage of the Potomac River plane crash and the coverage of President Trump’s takeover of the D.C. police force, among many other stories. Prior to her metro role, she worked at the Post as a copy editor and homepage editor.

Before she became an editor, Lisa reported for the Post as well the Oregonian, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the St. Petersburg Times. She was a member of the team that covered the Red River floods in North Dakota — work that earned the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.
