A man died and a woman was injured in a shooting in Southwest Baltimore Saturday night, police said.
Officers responded to the 200 block of North Payson for a reported shooting around 9:42 p.m. Saturday, Baltimore Police officials said in a news release. They found a 31-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both of whom officials have not identified, shot.
The two were transported to nearby hospitals where the man was pronounced dead, and the woman suffered injuries that are not life-threatening. Officials did not share if there was any connection or relationship between the two.
Lindsey Eldridge, a spokesperson for the Baltimore Police Department, said the investigation is active and ongoing, and detectives are following up on leads.
As of Friday, the most recent data from Baltimore Police Department shows there have been 53 homicides and 175 non-fatal shootings in the city this year. Around this time last year, there were 77 homicides and 175 non-fatal shootings.
The year is shaping up to be another for historic declines in homicides. Baltimore reported fewer homicides in the first half of 2026 than at any other period since 1970.
