Simone Phillips
Simone Phillips is part of The Baltimore Banner's Creatives in Residence program, which amplifies the work of artists and writers from the Baltimore region.
Simone is a Baltimore native and the food blogger behind @charmcitytable. Phillips began Charm City Table in spring of 2017 as a way to combine her love of food and the Baltimore area. Today, her platform has grown into a small business and well-known local brand continuing to promote Baltimore restaurants and other food concepts. Through Charm City Table, Simone works to highlight local food businesses, diversify food conversations in the Baltimore area, and elevate voices in the food scene that are typically excluded from larger media outlets. Simone also enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and online shopping.
Zorba's Bar & Grill offers up a tasty menu with tender lamb chops, juicy pork gyro and hand-cut french fries that will keep Charm City Table coming back for more.
In this week’s Ask Charm City Table, a column where I visit your favorite restaurants or share my own recommendations based on your dining questions, I enjoy a quaint and impressive dinner at The Helmand.
While the location — an old shack with off-white paneling — may be easy to miss, the clouds of smoke and smell of barbecue lets you know you are in the right place.
The restaurant, located in a busy shopping center, offers Cantonese food and Hong Kong-style dim sum daily for lunch and the rolling cart dim sum experience on weekends and holidays.
At Puerto 511, chef and owner Jose Victorio Alarcon reflects upon his own childhood memories and experiences of growing up in Callao, Peru to develop the seasonal, small plates menu.
As a Baltimore food blogger, I read lots of friendly, yet earnest, online discourse between residents on the cuisine of these different neighborhoods. I decided to try some of the spots myself.
