Mario Morais was The Baltimore Banner's data fellow in Fall 2023. With a background in data analysis, machine learning, and investigative journalism, he developed stories about the city of Baltimore and its residents. He contributed to investigative projects at The Howard Center for Investigative Journalism and wrote data stories for The Black Explosion Newspaper, the University of Maryland's first and only Black student newspaper. As a junior at the University of Maryland, Mario served as the managing editor for The Black Explosion Newspaper and worked as a data reporter for the university's independent student newspaper, The Diamondback.
