In a season full of stops and starts, Dylan Crews is running out of time to prove to the front office that they should make him a fixture in their long-term plans. But he’s showing signs of improvement.

Lile finished August with an .897 on-base-plus-slugging percentage, his highest mark over a full month this season.

The left-hander, who threw a career-high seven innings with three strikeouts and four walks in Friday’s 9-2 win over the Marlins, could be one option.

Three runs seem like a gargantuan task for this lineup. Particularly against Marlins ace Eury Perez, one of the preeminent young pitchers in the game, the Nationals were fighting uphill Saturday.

The All-Star outfielder is still feeling discomfort and tightness, and he is limited in the on-field work he can participate in.
